“Uniquely wonderful” describes the world of John Danny Madden.

At an early age Danny displayed exceptional musical abilities and by the age of ten he played several musical instruments including the drums, flute saxophone, trombone, cello and piano. As a child Opera singer, Danny performed with music legends Leonard Bernstein and Duke Ellington. His parents exposed him to a variety of musical styles and Danny totally embraced them all. At home with the Maddens you might hear Jazz, Gospel or Rock music one minute, then Opera, R&B or Pop music the next.

Those early years defined and shaped Danny’s musical career. He Studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ohio, The Juilliard School of Music, New York, The Interlaken Academy, Michigan and at the American University, Washington, D.C.

Danny developed into a Dramatic Operatic tenor. He performed in operas ranging from “Don Giovanni” by Mozart to “Lohengrin” by Wagner to “Porgy and Bess” by Gershwin. He’s performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. and at The Metropolitan Opera, New York.

As an R&B Pop singer, Danny recorded his own CD which he co-wrote and produced for Giant/Warner Bros. Records entitled “These Are The Facts Of Life”. His songs have been featured in several movies and TV shows including Warner Bros. “New Jack City” and Fox TV’s “Melrose Place”.

Danny’s career has led him to many exciting places including his work Off Broadway. He received outstanding reviews for his work as a performer and vocal arranger in the musical “The River”. Danny’s work as an announcer and producer was also heard in various commercials for radio and television including the True Color Kodak Film Campaign and the United States Coast Guard Campaign. Mr. Madden was the music producer, arranger and chorus director and arranger of The Macy’s Millennium Thanksgiving Day Parade theme song entitled “Just Beyond the Dream”. Danny has arranged, written or produced some of the music industry’s top selling artists ranging from NSYNC to Mariah Carey.

Mr. Madden is one of New York City’s most sought after voice teachers. He’s had two of his students as finalists in The American Idol Vocal Competition Television Show. He’s created a special program of artist development called “THE MAX PLAN” that’s used by major music labels and industry professionals of today. He is currently writing his first book on his approach to vocal training called “The American Method of Singing”.

Danny Madden is Choral Director for the Kipp: Infinity Charter School and The Prep For Prep School. He’s created and developed a school performance program called “Find Your Voice”. It’s designed to help children build courage and self esteem to speak out and let their voices be heard through the joy of singing.

Danny is a big brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City Mentoring program. He and his little brother were the first match in The 911 Together We Stand Program. The program was specifically established to address the needs of children who lost a parent or guardian in the 911 tragedy. As a result of his involvement with B.B.B.S. of N.Y.C., he and his wife Victoria Bell co-founded the Bigs and Littles Chorus and Friends. The chorus, also known as The B.L.C.F., is comprised of people of different ages, genders and nationalities and is open to all B.B.B.S. littles, matches and volunteers. The B.L.C.F. is available for performances. The performance fees are used for a college scholarship fund established by B.B.B.S. of N.Y.C. for the littles of the chorus.

Danny Madden is committed to the empowerment of children. He is deeply concerned about the challenging issues facing the youth of today, especially the African-American and Hispanic youth. He decided to take his commitment further and he founded BIGS UNITED. BIGS UNITED is a proactive grass-roots movement composed of African-American Big Brothers and Big Sisters and is a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City Mentoring program. Their mission is to empower the African-American community starting with one to one mentoring, ensuring that all African-American children have access to a positive role model. LATINO BIGS was also founded using this same model. Through BIGS UNITED, Danny is spreading the message of mentoring with the intent of inspiring and recruiting more African-Americans to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

In the summer of 2008, Danny was honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City for his outstanding work as a volunteer. He was honored a second time by the Mayor of New York City at Gracie Mansion, New York City.
